Our fights. Our causes.

The Maasai Bracelets campaign was born with the aim of eradicating two of the main forms of gender violence, Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriage.

These two realities are closely related and affect millions of girls around the world. Their complete elimination is one of the goals set by the United Nations to achieve true gender equality by 2030 (SDG 5).

FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that intentionally involve the total or partial amputation of female genital organs.

More than 200 million women live today with the consequences of FGM.

Each year, more than 4 million girls suffer this form of torture.

CHILD MARRIAGE

Child marriage is a radical violation of human rights and the Children’s Rights Convention.

It is, in a way, a new form of slavery that condemns girls and young women who suffer it for life.

Every year, more than 13 million young people are married before they turn 18. Of these, nearly 4 million are girls under 15.
